Welcome to the team our new Junior Design Engineer

Welcoming to our new Junior Design Engineer

There’s a great sense of satisfaction when someone you employ as an apprentice takes the opportunity, and begins to develop their career into something very promising. Robert has done just that by being appointed to our new Junior Design Engineer. The irony that this month’s featured case study is ABB as it was this project which immersed Robert in his first major design assignment at CP Cases. Robert joined CP Cases as a Production Apprentice in 2015. His aspiring design skills meant that when the ABB project presented itself, he was a prime candidate to lead the design team.

As he says, Robert was clearly cut out for design.

“Before joining CP Cases as an apprentice I was studying at West Thames College doing a course in level 3 manufacturing engineering. The college course gave me a great platform for working at CP Cases because the areas of study coincided which many different skills that we use here. Welding, CNC and machining sheet metal bending are some examples. Although there was a lot to do with production on the course my favourite modules were the design aspects. The things which I learnt during design classes were from the basics of hand-drawn technical drawings through to 3D CAD modelling.”

We’re delighted Robert has made the transition and because of his production experience, he can bring many practical skills to the table.
