WBP plywood rack body – glue and pin cabinet construction

The traditionally built outer cases of our ProRacks are made from made from top grade, laminated birch plywood. This Finnish Birch Combi WBP (water boil proof) Plywood provides resistance to extreme weather and moisture conditions. Non-burr fibre edging is secured with machine driven bifurcated clench rivets for unbreakable joints, and giving a low profile rivet head that easily glides over abrasive and rough surfaces without wear or deterioration. 

For added strength we employ cabinetmaking edge joints with traditional glue-and-pin construction. This gives the outer rack body rigidity and the impact-resistant robustness that has seen our ProCases and ProRacks through years of touring and continuous rough handling. For sizes of 16U and above, ProRack chassis are further strengthened with side stiffening plates to avoid torsional twist when supporting very heavy rack mounted payloads.

Choice of anti-vibration suspension and slide rails

A suspended internal 19” chassis is calibrated to support equipment from vibration and impact shocks. The patented internal anti-vibration chassis is manufactured from pre-stressed steel and compliments the rigid outer body to give a cage-within-a-cage supported by elastomeric anti vibration mounts (AVMs). These can be calibrated to give the best optimised support and protection for the payload – whatever the weight and fragility. The AVMs are mounted on steel anchor plates that focus each individual AVM towards the centre of the payload mass – thereby ensuring transit protection against shock and vibe, regardless of the orientation of the flight case rack.
